Enjoy the Recipe of Classic Red Velvet Cake

A sizzling and tempting red piece of soft and smooth happiness which simply melts in the mouth leaving one craving for more – that’s how one can describe a Red Velvet Cake. Due to its rich color and attractive appearance, this has remained a Christmas and Valentine Special Cake all over the world. In many parts of the world, this cake is made with layers of chocolate cake juxtaposed with white cream cheese or ermine icing. Initially, the color derived from beetroot extract was used as the color of this cake but now safe food coloring is used.

In whichever way it is made, when one piece goes into the mouth, a person forgets every bit of pain, depression, and anxiety. Here is the easy recipe of a Classic Red Velvet Cake which you can make at your home and spread more happiness around you.

What You Need For the Cake?

All Purpose Flour – 2 and Half Cups

Sugar (Dusted) – 1 and Half Cups

Vegetable Oil – 1 and Half Cups

Baking Powder – 1 Tsp.

Salt – 1Tsp

Unsweetened Baking Cocoa Powder – 1 Tsp.

Eggs – 2

Vanilla – 1 Tsp.

Buttermilk – 1 Cup

Red Food Color – 1 Bottle (1 oz or 28 grams)

What You Need For Frosting?

All Purpose Flour – ½ Cup

Milk – 1 and Half Cups

Sugar – 1 and Half Cup

Softened Butter – 1 and Half Cups

Vanilla – 1 Tsp.

How to Make Red Velvet Cake?

Firstly, you need to heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease the bottoms and sides of 3 round pans of 8-9 inches with shortening.

Slightly sprinkle flour over it.

Mix all the cake ingredients in a large bowl properly. Once mixed nicely, continue beating it for at least 2 minutes on a medium speed of the electric mixer.

Now, pour this mixture into 3 greased pans.

You have to bake for 25 to 35 minutes. Insert a toothpick to check if the cake is baked properly or not.

Then after 10 minutes transfer the cakes into cooling pan and cool for at least 1 hour.

Now you have start the frosting process. Firstly, in a medium sized saucepan, mix ½ cup flour and 1 and half cups milk and give a very nice whisk. Keep whisking until the mixture is soft and smooth.

You have to keep cooking this mixture of flour and milk over a medium heat until a thick consistency is reached.

Remove this mixture from the heat and cool for 10 minutes.

Now, take a large bowl and beat 1 and half cups of sugar and softened butter.

Use an electric mixer on medium speed and beat the sugar and butter until it gets light and fluffy.

Slowly, add flour one spoon after the other and keep beating on a high speed until you achieve a smooth texture.

Now, its time to put in some vanilla and give another round of beating.

Your frost is ready now.

The Final Touch

Bring one round cake of the three and place one whole cup of this frost and spread well.

Keep the second cake over it and follow the same procedure.

Finally, spread the remaining frost all over the cake.

Now, cover it and refrigerate it for at least 2-3 hours before serving.
