The term Crataegus is from Greek words, Kratos and Akis, meaning strength and sharp respectively. The name can also be traced back to the ancient word \u2018Hagathorn\u2019 whereas Haga means \u2018Hedge\u2019. It is said that the ancient Greeks used its branches at the time of wedding processions.<\/p>\n<p>The flower has been used as medicine for years because of the medicinal value of the fruit pigments found in it.
