International Mother Earth Day promotes a view of the Earth as the entity that sustains all living things found in nature. The objective is to foster shared responsibilities to reform or rebuild the relationship between human beings and nature.

About International Mother Earth Day

The International Mother Earth Day was first celebrated on 22nd April. The thought was established in 2009 by the General Assembly under a resolution that was introduced by The Plurinational State of Bolivia. It was sanctioned by over 50 member states. The basic idea was to promote the fact that this earth, our planet and its ecosystems are our home and we must take good care of that. Over a long period, human beings have been acting ruthlessly in order to satisfy their need in the name of development. But there must be a solution to this destruction otherwise everything will fall apart. Mother Nature is a giver of home, food, and clothing and thus humans are always dependent on it. The aim of this special day is to bring harmony between nature and all the living things. The word “Mother” is added to Nature because all these living organisms derive their energy from it.

The observance of this day promotes an awareness among people across the world to the challenges regarding the well-being of the planet and all the life it supports.
