As per Wikipedia, chocolate is usually a sweet, brown food preparation of roasted and ground cacao seeds. It is made in the form of a liquid, paste, or in a block, or used as a flavoring ingredient in other foods. History says that the earliest evidence of the use of chocolates dates back to the Olmecs (Mexico) and there was evidence of chocolate beverages in 1900 BC. Many Meso-American people made beverages from chocolate. Over the years, the popularity of chocolates has grown. From a luxurious product, it has become the most available product.

During Valentine Week that stretches from 7th to 14th February every year, chocolate is given a whole day. Although all over the week, chocolate is gifted but on Chocolate Day, nothing can be more alluring than only chocolates. So, you would be flooded with many chocolatey gift options like chocolates in decorative boxes, chocolates in gift hampers, chocolates in bouquets, and engraved chocolates with the name of that special someone.

As the day is Chocolate Day, you must know about some of the most delicious chocolate types available all over the world.

Take A Sneak Peek On Various Types Of Chocolates:

• Dark Chocolate: You must have heard that “chocolate is good for weight loss”, “removes periods pain”, or “relives in depression”, etc. Well, they never say that you must have dark chocolates to enjoy all these benefits of chocolates. Dark chocolate is also known as “plain chocolate” because of the very high content of cocoa in it. No milk solids are sued while preparing them and generally the cocoa percentage varies from 30 to 80%. Depending on the percentage of cocoa, the taste varies. Bittersweet and semi-sweet chocolates are two types of dark chocolates.

• Milk Chocolate: Milk chocolate is a solid form of chocolate made with milk added in the form of liquid milk, powdered milk, and condensed milk. As per the FDA guidelines of the United States of America, a milk chocolate should contain at least 10% chocolate liquor, 3.39% butterfat, and 12% milk solids. Talking about milk chocolates, Cadbury must be mentioned. Cadbury is almost synonymous with chocolates in India. Apart from that the Milk Chocolates of Lindt too are lip-smacking.

• White Chocolate: A white chocolate is made from sugar, milk, cocoa solids, and cocoa butter. White chocolates are not exactly white but they are ivory in color and also lacks the necessary compounds found in dark or milk chocolates. Quite strangely, these white chocolates don’t even taste like chocolates. They taste more like vanilla. According to the Food Regulation Laws, a white chocolate should carry at least 20% cocoa butter, 55% sugar, and 14% milk solids.

• Bittersweet Chocolate: There has to be at least 35% cocoa solid content in a chocolate to be granted as a bittersweet chocolate. There is also 50% chocolate liquor in these chocolates. One needs to acquire the taste for this chocolate.

• Semi-Sweet Chocolate: As mentioned earlier, semi-sweet chocolate is a type of dark chocolate only. The amount of cocoa in this type of chocolate is only 35%. Its darker than sweet dark chocolates and quite obviously has a sweeter taste as compared to bittersweet chocolates.

These type of chocolates do contain a minimum of 35% cocoa solids. It has a darker appearance than sweet dark chocolate but has a sweeter taste when compared to bittersweet chocolates.
